Innovators at Edinburgh University have developed algorithms to optimise end to end performance of wind turbines, while operating in real time, in order to account for local site and operating conditions.
This differs from the traditional approach where turbine parameters are set during the factory and on site commissioning phases, thereby remaining relatively static for each machine.
This approach not only considers the optimisation of each component in the chain, but more importantly takes account of the inter relationships of components, in order to maximise overall wind turbine performance.
